Gifts To Make Men Happy This Year

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Now that we have left the ‘naughties’, there are a myriad new gifts and gadgets on the market for the new decade. A basic PC or DVD player were the items of choice a decade ago. These are old news these days however and have been replaced by smaller, more digital products like video streaming boxes and netbooks. If youre looking for the best gifts for men then youll need to get with the times and find out what is really in vogue right now.Below are some of the most desirable products that will be on the shelves in 2010.

Micro RC Helicopter. Its difficult to see what is so advanced about a micro helicopter when compared to the old larger modules, but believe it or not they are completely different. You used to have to save up for years to afford an RC chopper, and you practically needed a full pilots licence to keep them in the air. You wouldn’t even dream of an RC plane as these were even worse. You can fly micro choppers however in pretty much any room of the house and the good ones can be controlled by even the most malcoordinated of users. All you need to look out for is braking a light or sharing the daylights out of the cat.

Next Gen Smart Phone. 10 years ago a phone was just that, something to make calls with…but now they do pretty much everything we desire. We can now browse the internet on phones, send and receive email, play games and even find our way via GPS. However, technology does not stand still and men especially want the most up-to-date gadgets to play with. Look out for more phones incorporating mini digital projectors, night vision recorders and even telescoping lenses attachments.

Netbooks. As with all gadgets, computers are getting smaller all the time. The laptop started to get so small that people decided to call it something new, and so the netbook was born. There used to be a large divide between the functions of laptops and the newer netbooks, but these differences are becoming less and less notice and it likely they will soon merge into one product again. Reductions in weight and increases in battery life are just some of the developments planned for a number of netbooks.

Zhu Zhu Pets – Range Set To Expand

Friday, December 25th, 2009

There’s not much doubt that Zhu Zhu Pets – the family of five robotic hamsters which feature artificial intelligence which allows them to interact with children and their environment – are the must have toy for Christmas 2009. Demand is currently so high that Toys R Us have, quite deliberately, not included them in their new Xmas 2009 catalog so as to avoid disappointing prospective buyers.

The Zhu Zhu hamsters are Mr. Squiggles, Num Nums, Patches, Pipsqueak and Chunk. In addition to the hamsters themselves there is a wide range of toys and accessories available which can be used in a variety of different ways and which allows the children to use their imagination.

The Zhu Zhu pets are aimed at children in the age range of 4 to 10 years old and appeal to both boys and girls. They are not suitable for very small children due to the fact that they contain both moving parts and batteries.

Cepia, the manufacturers, were founded in 2004 and are based in St. Louis. Since the Zhu Zhu Pets launched in August of 2009, six million units have been shipped. An additional six million unit sales are forecast between now and Christmas 2009. At the moment, the hamsters and their accessories are spending less than three minutes, on average, sitting on the shelf before being bought. It seems reasonable to conclude that demand is extremely high.

Prices are rising, both for the hamsters and the accompanying accessories, and you can already find them on eBay at prices higher than retail. Prices will probably increase the closer we get to Christmas.

Cepia are predicting sales of between $ 300 and $ 400 million over the next twelve months. This will be from not only the Zhu Zhu hamsters – they intend to expand their range to include hedgehogs, squirrels, chipmunks and rabbits. Presumably any small, cute and furry woodland animal which children would find appealing could make it onto their list in future.
