Amish Recipes – The Best Tasting Recipes In The World

Saturday, June 4th, 2011

The Amish are well known for both their craftsman ship and their cooking. If you have ever seen a piece of Amish made furniture, you no doubt will attest to the quality and durability of those pieces. Amish cooking is no exception and anyone who has tasted an Amish recipe can tell you how tasty it was.

I am not sure what it is about their cooking, but it always seems to taste better coming from one of their recipes. I do not know if it is the fact that they use real butter, farm fresh eggs, and other natural ingredients, but it does taste different.

Their recipes are passed down from generation to generation with mothers passing their skill and knowledge in the kitchen down to each of their daughters with such love and tenderness. These recipes are time-tested and approved. If the recipes where not good, they were dropped from the menu and replaced with another recipe.

The Amish men work hard on the farm from sun up to sun down. Since they do everything by hand and avoid anything electric, they burn up a lot of energy. So the women cook from early in the morning to late evening to make sure the table is full of good nourishing food for the hungry workers.

If you have ever found yourself in an area where the Amish live, and have visited one of the many porch sales they have, you will know what I’m talking about. They women sell breads, cookies, and pies straight from the oven and at prices you can’t beat at any store.

These recipes are perfected over the years and updated as more modern ingredients become available to them. Their recipes contain simple herbs and spices that you will be able to find in almost any grocery store. They use as few ingredients in their recipes as they can and still get good flavor from them. This is your assurance that each recipe is easy to make and almost fool-proof.

Some of the more popular recipes are Whoopee Pies, Shoo-Fly Pie, and many others. No doubt you have heard these mentioned at one time or another. I have had them all and can attest to their wonderful flavors and taste. You will think that you have died and gone to heaven.

Amish recipe cookbooks can be found various places in bookstores and online. Amazon carries several, as do many other retailers online. One good place to find 65 Amish recipes is at 65 Amish Recipes where you can see an index page of the recipes contained inside. It is in ebook form and I’m sure you’ll love it.

Another recipe book you may be interested in can be found in the Kindle bookstore and is called Decadent Cheesecake Recipes and is sure to please your taste buds as well.

I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to get hungry. I think I’ll go prepare one of those delicious recipes right now. Yum!

Christmas And Pork

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

The festive holiday is nearly upon us. When you reflect do you think of a lot of different extraordinary moments?

Examples include the decorating of the Christmas tree, putting up Christmas lights, singing carols and making a snow man. But the only important event of that day everybody remember is the dinner on Christmas day.

Even if you are with your close or extended relatives, the parents mainly get the dinner ready. For the small children, this pretty much means nothing but for the teenagers and the adults, it means they get the opportunity to loosen up and pretty much do nothing.

But the main reason is that the dinner brings families together, so why not make it a memorable Christmas by adding some pork dishes for example pork sausage cassoulet and roast pork.

Before we get to the main course, don’t disregard that breakfast is the most vital meal of the day and the perfect meal to have is the Christmas bacon casserole.

Pigs have an unjust reputation for being unclean. However this is completely uncalled-for. If you read the facts it is proven that pigs are very clean animals in terms of hygiene.

Any creature can be unclean; it all depends on how clean the meat is and how well you prepare the food. Most germs and viruses develop by unclean hands or rare meat, so make sure that you handle it in a clean environment and prepare it well.

Are you asking yourself the question, does pork contain a lot of fat? Over the past 30 years, it has reduced from 30% to 4% due to the changes in pig butchery and breeding. It is also low in salt but be careful of processed meat as they usually contain higher amounts.

What more can you ask for during this festive season? It is nutritious, delicious and it’s an excellent source for protein to keep the body healthy.
